Interfaith Works (IW) is a non-profit organization that serves more than 16,000 Montgomery County residents each year. Almost 72,000 Montgomery County residents live below the federal poverty line, and over 19,000 of these residents are children. With the high cost of housing, families are finding it harder to make ends meet and, unfortunately, a growing number of the families we serve are at risk of experiencing homelessness. IW’s 14 programs focus on prevention, stabilization, and empowerment to help people lift themselves out of poverty. These programs include shelters, family mentoring, vocational services, free clothing distribution, seasonal overnight shelter in weather extremes and job-readiness classes.
